Hiring a private driver in Barcelona means one person, one car and one plan for your trip. I quote a fixed price, I plan the route with you, and the same driver handles the day. This page explains the options, the cars and the prices, so you can decide what to ask for.
What a private driver in Barcelona does
A private driver is a professional chauffeur in a Mercedes who collects you at a time and place you set. There are two main ways to use the service:
- A transfer: a fixed route from A to B, such as the airport to your hotel, or a hotel to the cruise port, which is priced like the airport transfer (€80 in an E-Class or V-Class).
- A driver at your disposal: the car and driver are yours for a number of hours, for meetings, sightseeing or shopping.
You can also combine them. A typical booking is an arrival transfer, a day tour two days later and a departure transfer at the end.
Private driver from Barcelona airport
The most common request is a private driver from Barcelona airport to a hotel or apartment. The price is set by the vehicle: €80 in an E-Class or V-Class, €200 in a Sprinter, €320 in a minibus or coach. All prices include VAT.
To prepare the pick-up, I ask for the flight number, the date and the terminal. I confirm the meeting point with you before you travel. The route, the distance and the alternatives are on the Barcelona airport transfer page, and the airport itself publishes terminal information on the Aena website.
Private driver for a day or half-day
For anything longer than a transfer, book a driver at your disposal. Prices are in euros, include VAT and are per vehicle.
| Vehicle | 6 hours (minimum per day) | 8 hours | Each additional hour |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mercedes E-Class | €470 | €630 | €80 |
| Mercedes S-Class | €745 | €990 | €125 |
| Mercedes V-Class | €470 | €630 | €80 |
| Mercedes Sprinter | €610 | €785 | €90 |
| Minibus | €685 | €900 | €110 |
| Coach | €685 | €900 | €110 |
The minimum is 6 hours per day and there is no maximum. This option suits city tours, business days, shopping trips and the day trips described below. The chauffeur by the hour page goes into more detail.
Private driver tours from Barcelona
Guests often ask for a private driver for a tour, whether of the city or beyond it. Some of the most requested plans:
- A day in the city: see the ideas on the private Barcelona day tour page.
- Montserrat: the monastery and the mountain, covered on the Montserrat tour page. Visitor information is on the official Montserrat site.
- Costa Brava: coves and villages to the north, on the Costa Brava tour page.
- Wine country: Penedès and cava cellars, covered under wineries near Barcelona.
All of them fall under the hourly rates. The day trips hub lists the rest.
Private driver from Barcelona to other cities
Fixed prices are published for Sitges, Montserrat, Girona, PortAventura and Andorra on the prices page. A private driver from Barcelona to Valencia, Madrid or Seville is quoted on request, since the distance, the date and the return leg change the job. Start with the destinations page to see the routes with a page of their own.
Private chauffeur or taxi?
A private chauffeur suits you when you value a fixed price, a specific vehicle or a driver who knows your plan. A taxi suits you when you decide on the spot and travel light. There is no reason to pick one for every trip, and many guests use both. For the airport, my taxi versus private car guide goes through the differences.
Which vehicle should I choose?
- Mercedes E-Class: up to 3 passengers. Couples, executives, light luggage.
- Mercedes V-Class: up to 7 passengers. Families and groups with bags. See Mercedes V-Class with driver.
- Mercedes S-Class: up to 3 passengers. Hourly only, for the premium saloon.
- Mercedes Sprinter: up to 16 passengers. See Sprinter hire.
- Minibus and coach: up to 33 and 60 passengers.
The fleet page shows all of them.
Business travel with a private driver
For business, a private driver removes the uncertainty from a day of meetings. The car waits between appointments, you work in the back, and the schedule holds even when a meeting overruns. The business chauffeur page covers the corporate side, and congress guests will find the Mobile World Congress page useful. Fira Barcelona publishes the official event calendar on its website.
What to tell me when you ask for a driver
The more precise the request, the more useful the reply. These are the details I ask for:
- the date and time of the pick-up, and the address
- the flight number and terminal, for airport jobs
- the number of passengers and large suitcases
- the destination, or the plan for the hours you want
- any special need, such as a pushchair, a wheelchair or a bulky item
I reply with the vehicle I recommend and the price. If something is unclear, I ask rather than guess.
Private driver for families and groups
Families usually ask three things: will everyone fit, will the luggage fit and will the car be on time. The V-Class answers the first two for up to 7 passengers, and the timing comes from the flight details you send. For larger parties, such as a wedding group or a company team, the Sprinter or the minibus keeps everyone in one vehicle. Tell me the numbers and I recommend the size, even if that means a cheaper vehicle than the one you first asked for.
How to hire a private driver
- Use the form below, or go to the contact page.
- Enter the date, the pick-up time and place, and the destination or the hours you need.
- Add the number of passengers and large suitcases.
- I reply by e-mail or WhatsApp with the vehicle and the price.
- Confirm and the booking is made.
The service runs 24/7, 24 hours a day, every day of the week, so night and early-morning pick-ups can be booked like any other. If you are planning several services, send them in one request so I can fit them together.
