A minibus sits in the middle of the range: too big for a few taxis, too small for a coach. It is the vehicle I recommend for groups of 17 to 33, and for groups where parking and tight streets matter. This page explains how I offer minibus hire in Barcelona with a driver, what it costs and when another vehicle is the better choice.
Minibus hire in Barcelona: prices
Prices are in euros, include VAT and are per vehicle, not per person.
| Booking | Minibus (up to 33) |
|---|---|
| Barcelona airport to or from Barcelona | €320 |
| Driver at your disposal, 6 hours (minimum per day) | €685 |
| 8 hours | €900 |
| Each additional hour | €110 |
Hire by the hour has a 6-hour minimum per day, with no maximum. Anything outside the table, such as other cities or several days, is quoted on request. The prices page lists every vehicle.
Minibus hire from Barcelona airport
The airport is where most minibus enquiries start. A group arrives at El Prat, the luggage is loaded and the driver takes everyone to the hotel in one trip. The fixed price between the airport and Barcelona is €320, the same as the coach.
When you write to me, send the number of passengers, the number of suitcases and the time of arrival. For the terminals and arrival information, check the Aena Barcelona-El Prat site. My Barcelona airport transfer page covers the other vehicles.
If your flight lands at another airport, Girona and Reus are quoted on request. See my pages on Girona Airport to Barcelona and Reus Airport to Barcelona.
Which minibus size do you need?
There is no point booking more seats than you need, and no point squeezing a group into a vehicle that is too small. I use these rules.
- Up to 7 passengers. A Mercedes V-Class is enough.
- 8 to 16 passengers. The Mercedes Sprinter is the right size, and its price is lower: €200 on the airport route and €610 for 6 hours.
- 17 to 33 passengers. The minibus.
- 34 to 60 passengers. The coach, on the bus and coach hire page.
If you are close to a limit, go up one size, especially when everyone has a suitcase. Luggage takes space that passengers do not.
What groups use a minibus for
- Weddings. Guests travel from the hotel to the venue and back. See wedding chauffeur in Barcelona.
- Corporate groups. Transfers between the airport, the hotel and a venue such as Fira Barcelona.
- Day trips. A group of 20 to Montserrat, the Costa Brava or the Penedès wine region, with the minibus waiting at each stop. See day trips from Barcelona.
- Sports clubs and school groups. Matches, tournaments and excursions.
- Cruise passengers. Between the port and the city or airport. The port’s own information is on the Port of Barcelona site.
Luxury minibus hire in Barcelona
People sometimes search for a luxury minibus. I do not sell it as a separate product. What I can say is that the vehicle comes with a professional driver, that I plan the route with you and that the price is agreed in advance. If you have a specific requirement, such as a particular interior layout, put it in the quote request and I tell you what is possible.
How to book a minibus with a driver
- Use the quote form below, or the contact page.
- Send the date, the pick-up place, the destination and the number of passengers.
- Say whether you want a fixed airport transfer or the driver at your disposal for several hours.
- I reply by e-mail or WhatsApp with the vehicle and the price, VAT included.
- Confirm and I book the driver.
For the other vehicles in the fleet, see the fleet page.
Minibus or coach: how to decide
A minibus is almost always the better choice for 17 to 33 people. It costs the same as the coach on the fixed airport route and by the hour, but it is shorter and easier to park, which matters in the streets around hotels and venues. If your group is nearer 40 or 50, you need the coach and the bus hire page.
Think about the day, not only the headcount. A wedding with 30 guests and a few bags is a clear minibus job. A sports team with 28 players and kit bags may need the extra room of a coach. If you are close to the limit, tell me about the luggage, and I will tell you which one I would book.
Minibus for a day out from Barcelona
Many minibus bookings are day trips. The driver stays with the group, so there is no need to split into taxis, and nobody is left behind at a station. A few routes people ask for:
- Montserrat. The monastery has its own visitor information at Montserrat. The minibus can wait while the group visits.
- Sitges. A seaside town with its own tourism site, Sitges.
- Penedès. A wine and cava day. See the Penedès wine tour page.
- Girona and the Costa Brava. Longer days, quoted by the hour.
The hours of the whole journey count towards the booking, including the drive out and back, and the 6-hour minimum applies per day.
Questions to answer before you book
- How many passengers, and how many large suitcases?
- Where does the group start, and where does it finish?
- Is it a transfer, or do you want the driver for several hours?
- Are there stops on the way, and how long do you want at each?
With these four answers I can quote almost any minibus job in a single reply.
Luggage and timing for a minibus group
Luggage decides more minibus bookings than seat counts do. A minibus with 30 passengers and 30 large suitcases is a different trip from 30 passengers with day bags. When you write, give me the number of suitcases, and tell me if there is anything unusual, such as sports equipment or musical instruments. I then tell you whether the minibus is right or whether a coach gives you more space.
For timing, send the flight number or the meeting time and the place. For an airport pick-up, I work back from the landing time and agree the meeting point with you. For a departure, tell me the check-in time you are aiming for, and I plan the pick-up with margin. The airport itself publishes the terminal information on the Aena site.
