A Barcelona airport transfer should be the simplest part of the trip, and a private one comes close: you book the vehicle, I confirm the price, and a driver takes you from the terminal to your hotel without you queuing or negotiating. This page explains how the transfer works, what it costs and how to choose the right vehicle.
Barcelona airport transfer prices
The price for a transfer between Barcelona-El Prat and Barcelona is set by the vehicle. Prices are in euros and include VAT.
| Vehicle | Passengers | Barcelona airport to or from Barcelona |
|---|---|---|
| Mercedes E-Class | up to 3 | €80 |
| Mercedes V-Class | up to 7 | €80 |
| Mercedes Sprinter | up to 16 | €200 |
| Minibus | up to 33 | €320 |
| Coach | up to 60 | €320 |
The price is per vehicle. A family of five in a V-Class pays the same €80 as one person in an E-Class, which is why I often point groups of four to seven towards the larger car. The S-Class is booked by the hour only, so it is not part of this table. If you want it for an airport day, ask for the hourly rate on the chauffeur by the hour page.
Anything outside the table, such as other cities, several days or a different pick-up point, is quoted on request. The full list is on the prices page.
Transfer from Barcelona airport to the city centre
El Prat sits southwest of the city. From Plaça de Catalunya it is 16 km and about 25 minutes without traffic (route on Google Maps). From the airport to Sants station it is 13 km and about 15 minutes (route on Google Maps).
Those are free-flow times. In the morning and evening peaks the same drive takes longer, and for a flight you cannot miss I would plan the pick-up earlier than the minimum. Tell me the departure time of your flight and I work back from it.
Transfer from Barcelona airport to your hotel
Give me the hotel name and address in the quote request. Central hotels near Plaça de Catalunya, Passeig de Gràcia and the Gothic Quarter all fall under the Barcelona price in the table above. If your hotel is outside the city, for example along the coast, I quote it separately.
Airport transfer between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2
Barcelona airport has two terminals. Many guests ask for a transfer between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, usually because the arrival and the onward flight use different ones. The terminals are close, and the airport publishes how to move between them, on Aena’s Barcelona-El Prat pages. Check that first. If you have heavy luggage, a group or a tight connection and would rather have a car, send me the details and I quote it.
Private transfer or the alternatives?
There are other ways into the city: the metro, the Aerobus, the train, a taxi, and the shared shuttles. Each fits a particular traveller.
- Public transport is the cheapest route for one or two people with light luggage who are going to a station-side address.
- A taxi is easy when you arrive and decide on the spot. My airport taxi versus private car guide covers when it is the better option.
- A private transfer is for people who want a fixed price before they land, a vehicle that matches the group, and a driver at arrivals.
There is no universal winner. For a couple travelling light, public transport may be right. For a family of six with suitcases after a long flight, the €80 V-Class is hard to beat.
Cruise terminal, Salou and other transfers from the airport
Airport transfers do not all end in the city. These are common requests:
- Airport to the cruise port. The airport price: €80 in an E-Class or V-Class, €200 in a Sprinter and €320 in a minibus or coach. See Barcelona airport to cruise port, and check the berth and terminal with your cruise line or on the Port of Barcelona website. Every cruise port run, including the port to or from Barcelona city, is priced exactly like the airport transfer in the table above, as described on the cruise port transfer page.
- Airport to Sitges, Girona, Tarragona or PortAventura. Each has its own page, for example airport to Sitges and airport to PortAventura.
- Airport to Salou. A transfer I quote on request; the route and timing are close to the PortAventura run.
- Airport to Lloret de Mar. Quoted on request as well, since it lies outside the table.
I do not invent a “from” price for those. I quote each one against the route.
Chauffeur service at Barcelona airport
If you are searching for a chauffeur service at Barcelona airport, the practical question is what happens when you land. I ask for your flight number, the arrival date and the terminal in the form. I confirm the pick-up point with you before you travel. The service runs 24/7, so night and early-morning flights are covered. If your flight arrives late, tell me when you write and I will plan around the schedule you give me.
For executives and guests who want a premium car at arrival, the Mercedes E-Class is the usual choice, and the Mercedes V-Class is the choice for groups with luggage. The fleet page shows all the vehicles.
Choosing the size of vehicle for the airport
Seats are only half the question. Count the large suitcases, the golf bags, the pushchairs and the cabin bags, then compare the total with the vehicle. Six people with a large case each can fill a seven-seat car, and a coach is overkill for a group of twelve. If you are between two sizes, tell me the numbers and I recommend one. The price difference between an E-Class and a V-Class on this route is zero, so the larger car is often the sensible pick when you are unsure.
How to book your airport transfer
- Use the form below, or the contact page.
- Enter the date, flight or arrival time, terminal if you know it, and your destination in Barcelona.
- Tell me the number of passengers and the number of large suitcases.
- I reply by e-mail or WhatsApp with the vehicle and the price.
- Confirm and the transfer is booked.
For a return journey, send both dates in one request so I can plan the two legs together.
