Girona-Costa Brava airport is the second option for many flights to Catalonia, and the distance from the city is longer than most people expect. Barcelona to Girona airport transfer: prices
The price is set by the vehicle, not by the number of passengers. All prices include VAT.

The E-Class and V-Class cost the same, so for any group of four to seven I would book the V-Class for the luggage space. The S-Class is booked by the hour only, so it is not in this table. The route from Barcelona to Girona airport
From Plaça de Catalunya to Girona-Costa Brava airport it is 96 km, about 1 h 15 min without traffic (route on Google Maps). The drive goes north and is usually straightforward, but the first part leaving Barcelona is where time is lost at the morning and evening peaks.
For that reason I plan the pick-up backwards from your flight. Give me the departure time and the airline, and I choose a pick-up time with room to spare.
Barcelona to Girona airport: bus, train or taxi?
- Bus. Several companies run airport buses from Barcelona. Timetables and tickets are theirs to confirm, so check with the operator, and consider whether the departure time suits your flight.
- Train. The train takes you to Girona city, not the airport itself, so you need another leg. Check the Renfe website for current options.
- Taxi. A taxi works if you decide on the day, but the price is agreed on the spot and you may wait for one.
- Private driver. A fixed price per vehicle, agreed before you travel, with pick-up at your door.
If you are travelling as a family, a team or a wedding party, a single vehicle for the whole group usually beats several bus tickets.
Barcelona hotel or home to the terminal
Most Girona airport transfers start at a hotel in the city, around Plaça de Catalunya, Passeig de Gràcia or the seafront. Vehicles for the Girona run
The E-Class takes up to 3 passengers, the V-Class up to 7, the Sprinter up to 16, the minibus up to 33 and the coach up to 60. If you carry sports gear, golf clubs or several large suitcases, go one size up. The fleet page has details of each vehicle.
Planning your pick-up time
Work out the pick-up time from the flight, not from the clock on the wall. Most airlines advise arriving at the terminal well before departure, and the exact guidance is on your booking. Add the 1 h 15 min drive, then a margin for traffic leaving Barcelona, and you have the time the driver should be at your door. A morning flight means an early start, and I would rather you wait ten minutes at the terminal than watch the clock on the motorway.
If you travel with sports equipment, a pushchair or oversized bags, say so in the form, because it decides the vehicle. The V-Class costs the same as the E-Class on this route, so there is no reason to squeeze a family into the smaller car.
Evening arrivals and early departures
Girona has flights at awkward hours, and public transport is thinnest exactly then. Groups, teams and corporate travel
Teams that fly out of Girona together, such as a sports club, a school or a company delegation, can travel in one Sprinter, minibus or coach for the fixed price in the table.
