PortAventura World is the one place on the Costa Daurada where families, school groups and teenagers all want to be on the same day. A Barcelona to PortAventura transfer by private driver means the party travels together from the hotel, arrives together and goes home when the park closes for them, not when a timetable says so.
Barcelona to PortAventura transfer: prices
The one-way price is set by the vehicle. All prices include VAT.
| Vehicle | Passengers | Barcelona to PortAventura |
|---|---|---|
| Mercedes E-Class | up to 3 | €235 |
| Mercedes V-Class | up to 7 | €235 |
| Mercedes Sprinter | up to 16 | €610 |
| Minibus | up to 33 | €750 |
| Coach | up to 60 | €750 |
The price is per vehicle, not per ticket. A family of seven in a V-Class travels for the same rate as two people in an E-Class. The S-Class is booked by the hour only. Return legs and extra stops are quoted on request, and the prices page lists everything that has a fixed rate.
Distance and drive time
From Plaça de Catalunya to PortAventura World it is 107 km, about 1 h 30 min without traffic (route on Google Maps). The drive runs south along the coast and is straightforward. The main risk is the exit from Barcelona on Friday afternoons and summer Sundays, which is why I choose the pick-up time with a margin and tell you in the quote.
Day trip to PortAventura with a driver waiting
If you want the vehicle to stay for the day, the trip is priced by the hour instead of as a one-way transfer. Take a round trip of 1 h 30 min each way plus 7 h on site, rounded up to the half hour: that is 10 h of hire, since the minimum is 6 h. The estimate in the table below is hours multiplied by the hourly rate in my price table, VAT included.
| Vehicle | Passengers | 10 h of hire |
|---|---|---|
| Mercedes E-Class | up to 3 | €785 |
| Mercedes S-Class | up to 3 | €1,240 |
| Mercedes V-Class | up to 7 | €785 |
| Mercedes Sprinter | up to 16 | €955 |
| Minibus | up to 33 | €1,115 |
| Coach | up to 60 | €1,115 |
If you stay longer, extra hours are charged at the hourly rate. If you plan to leave early, remember that the 6 h minimum still applies. For the rates behind these figures, see chauffeur by the hour. A one-way transfer with an evening return in a separate vehicle is also possible; ask me for the quote.
Barcelona to PortAventura: train, bus or private car?
- Train. Renfe serves the Tarragona area, and the park has a station. Routes and fares change, so check the Renfe website.
- Bus. Several operators run to the Costa Daurada. Timetables and ticket prices are theirs to confirm.
- Taxi. A taxi is possible but the fare is agreed on the day for a long fare.
- Private driver. Door-to-door service with luggage and pushchairs loaded once and unloaded at the entrance.
For the park itself, tickets, opening days and rules are on the PortAventura World website. I only drive; I do not sell tickets.
From Barcelona airport and to nearby Salou
If you land at El Prat, read Barcelona airport to PortAventura. If your hotel is on the beachfront in Salou instead, see Barcelona to Salou, which is a few minutes from the park and quoted on request.
Choosing a vehicle
The E-Class takes up to 3, the V-Class up to 7, the Sprinter up to 16, the minibus up to 33 and the coach up to 60. For a school or club party I would book the minibus or the coach, and for a birthday group of ten the Sprinter. Pushchairs, bags and anything bought at the park need room, so go one size up when in doubt. The fleet page shows each vehicle.
Planning the day: timings, stops and the return
Parks reward an early arrival, and that decides when the driver should be at your door. Check the opening time on the official site, add the 1 h 30 min drive and a margin, and you have your pick-up time. The return works the other way: tell me roughly when you want to leave, and I agree a time with you on the day, since the hourly rate covers the waiting.
The vehicle is a base for the day. You can leave jackets, bags and purchases in it, and children can rest in the air-conditioned car if they need a break. I do not wait at the gate; I agree a meeting point and a time, and I am there.
Hotels near the park and the beach
Guests staying at a park hotel, in Salou or in a villa nearby give me the address in the quote request. A drop-off at the park entrance and a drop-off at a hotel are different stops, and I confirm which one you want. If your plan includes a night away, the transfer is simply one-way, and the return leg is booked on its own date. See the destinations index for the other coastal runs.
Groups, schools and clubs
School trips, football clubs and birthday groups often need more than one vehicle. A Sprinter takes up to 16, a minibus up to 33 and a coach up to 60, and I quote several vehicles on one booking if the group is larger. For group logistics, the bus and coach hire page explains how I handle seat counts, luggage and timings. Give me the number of adults and children, because it helps me choose the right size.
Choosing between a one-way transfer and the whole day
A one-way transfer suits guests who stay at a hotel near the park and only need the drive. The vehicle for the day suits families who return to Barcelona in the evening and want the car to be there when the park is done. Think about the children as well: a long day on foot ends with tired passengers, and a car waiting at an agreed meeting point is a relief. Send me the plan and I tell you which option fits.
