Flights into Girona often arrive late in the evening, with a long drive to a Barcelona hotel still ahead. A private Girona airport to Barcelona transfer makes that last leg simple: the driver is at arrivals, the vehicle fits the group, and you do not have to work out a bus or a train after a flight.
Girona airport to Barcelona: distance and drive time
From Girona-Costa Brava airport to Plaça de Catalunya it is 97 km, about 1 h 20 min without traffic (route on Google Maps). The motorway south is straightforward, and the slowest part is usually the approach to Barcelona at peak hours.
I follow your arrival time and plan the pick-up from there. Tell me the flight number in the quote request and the driver is at the terminal when you come out.
Girona airport to Barcelona city centre
Most guests are going to a hotel or an apartment in the central districts around Plaça de Catalunya, Passeig de Gràcia, the Gothic Quarter or the seafront. Some are heading to Sants station or the Port of Barcelona. Give me the exact address and I confirm it in the quote. For the opposite direction, from a Barcelona hotel to the terminal, see Barcelona to Girona airport, which has fixed prices.
Price: how I quote Girona airport to Barcelona
This direction is quoted on request. The quote is per vehicle, not per person, and VAT is included. The factors are the vehicle, the address in Barcelona and the time of arrival. A V-Class for a family of six and an E-Class for a couple are quoted separately, with a fixed figure confirmed before you pay.
To see the rates I do have in a fixed table, open the prices page.
Girona airport to Barcelona: bus, train, taxi or private transfer
- Bus. Several operators connect the airport and Barcelona. Check the timetable against your landing time, since late flights may arrive after the last service.
- Train. The train goes from Girona city rather than the airport, so you need a connection first. See the Renfe website for routes.
- Taxi. A taxi is available at the airport, but for a long fare the price should be agreed before you set off.
- Private transfer. A driver at arrivals, a vehicle sized to the group, a price agreed before the flight.
Metro and train options into Barcelona once you arrive are on the TMB website, which is useful if you plan to move around the city on public transport after the transfer.
Vehicles
| Vehicle | Passengers |
|---|---|
| Mercedes E-Class | up to 3 |
| Mercedes V-Class | up to 7 |
| Mercedes Sprinter | up to 16 |
| Minibus | up to 33 |
| Coach | up to 60 |
I would send the E-Class for one to three travellers and the V-Class for four to seven with luggage. Groups, such as a wedding party, a sports club or a tour group, are better in a Sprinter, minibus or coach. The fleet page has details.
Costa Brava and onward transfers
Girona airport is the entry point for the Costa Brava, and guests sometimes land there and only reach Barcelona a few days later. I can quote the airport to the coast and then on to the city as one booking. If you land at Barcelona instead, read Barcelona airport transfer, and for a longer drive from the city, Barcelona to Andorra.
Late flights and waiting at arrivals
Evening and night flights are common at Girona, and the last public service may not suit them. Tell me the scheduled landing time and I plan the pick-up around it. If the flight is late, send me a message so that I can adjust the time with you. I do not give a fixed waiting time, so share the flight number and any change as soon as you know it.
How to book
- Send the quote form with the flight number, arrival date and time.
- Add the Barcelona address, the number of passengers and bags.
- I reply by e-mail or WhatsApp with the vehicle and the price, VAT included.
- Confirm, and the driver is at arrivals.
