Salou is the beach resort that sits beside PortAventura, and most guests who book a Barcelona to Salou transfer arrive with cases, children and a hotel that is not near the station. A private chauffeur takes the planning out of the journey: you give me the address, I give you a price and a time.
Barcelona to Salou transfer: distance and time
From Plaça de Catalunya to Salou it is 108 km, about 1 h 25 min without traffic (route on Google Maps). The road follows the coast south, and it is quiet outside school holidays. On summer weekends and the first and last days of a school break, plan more time. I choose the pick-up time with that in mind and tell you in the quote.
How much does the transfer cost?
Salou is not in my fixed price table, so I quote it on request. The quote is per vehicle, not per person, and VAT is included. A V-Class for seven and an E-Class for two are priced by the vehicle, the pick-up and the hotel. If you also want to visit the park, the nearby Barcelona to PortAventura page has the fixed rates for that run.
To see what is fixed and what is quoted, open the prices page.
Choosing a vehicle for Salou
| Vehicle | Passengers |
|---|---|
| Mercedes E-Class | up to 3 |
| Mercedes V-Class | up to 7 |
| Mercedes Sprinter | up to 16 |
| Minibus | up to 33 |
| Coach | up to 60 |
Couples and business travellers do well in the E-Class. Families go for the V-Class, and groups such as a stag weekend, a school trip or a team travel in the Sprinter, minibus or coach. The fleet page shows the seats in each.
Barcelona airport to Salou
A good share of guests start from the airport rather than from the city. I collect you at arrivals and drive to Salou, with no stop in Barcelona. Give me the flight number in the form and I follow it with a pick-up time that fits. For the city rates between El Prat and Barcelona see Barcelona airport transfer. If you are flying into Reus instead, it is closer to Salou, and I can quote it as well.
Barcelona to Salou: train, bus or taxi?
- Train. Renfe runs trains on the coast corridor, with a change if you start from the airport. Check the Renfe website.
- Bus. Coach operators run to the Costa Daurada. Their timetables and tickets are best checked with them directly.
- Taxi. A taxi works on the day, but the fare for a long trip should be agreed before you set off.
- Private chauffeur. A fixed quote per vehicle before you travel, door to door.
Public transport is a sensible budget choice for one traveller. A private car makes sense for groups, heavy luggage, early flights and late arrivals.
Salou day trips and return legs
If you are staying in Barcelona and want a day at the beach or the park, the vehicle can wait for you by the hour instead of leaving. Hourly hire has a 6 h minimum per day, with extra hours charged at the hourly rate. Read chauffeur by the hour for the rates. Return legs and transfers on different days are quoted on request. For what to see on the coast, the Catalonia tourism site has the regional guide.
Where in Salou are you staying?
Salou is compact, but the hotel matters: the seafront, the streets around the old town and the zone beside the park are different drop-off points. Give me the hotel name and address in the quote request and I send the driver to the right door. If you are in an apartment, add the street and any access instructions. A precise address saves minutes at the end of a long drive.
Families, groups and holiday weekends
Most Salou transfers are for families with children and several bags. A V-Class takes up to 7 and carries luggage and a pushchair comfortably. For a hen or stag party, a school group or a team, the Sprinter, minibus or coach keeps everyone together. In July, August and around public holidays the roads on the Costa Daurada are busier, so I plan the departure earlier and tell you why.
Salou, Tarragona and the park together
Salou is close to Tarragona and PortAventura, so a stay there can include both. See Barcelona airport to Tarragona for the Roman city and the destinations index for all my other routes. If you want several of these in one booking, send the plan and I quote the whole programme.
Salou by the hour, or one way?
If you only need to reach the hotel, a one-way transfer is enough. If you want a driver for a day around Salou, Tarragona and the beaches, hourly hire is the better fit, and the 6 h minimum applies. I explain both in the quote, with the price for the option you choose. Guests who arrive on a Saturday and leave the following Saturday usually book two separate one-way transfers, which keeps the plan simple.
Luggage and timing on arrival day
Check-in times at resort hotels are often in the afternoon, so an early transfer can leave you waiting with bags. If your flight lands in the morning, tell me the hotel, and I can suggest leaving the luggage there and spending the first hours at the beach. The decision is yours; I just match the pick-up time to what the hotel allows.
How to book
- Send the quote form with the date, the pick-up address (or flight number) and your Salou hotel.
- Add the number of travellers and bags.
- I reply by e-mail or WhatsApp with the vehicle, the pick-up time and the price, VAT included.
- Confirm, and the driver arrives at the agreed time.
