Sitges is the nearest beach town to Barcelona that people actually want to stay in, and the question I get most is how to get there without fuss. A private transfer takes you from your Barcelona hotel, apartment or the airport to the door of your address in Sitges. This page covers the price, the vehicles, the day-trip option and how the alternatives compare.
Barcelona to Sitges taxi: fixed prices by vehicle
The price for a transfer between Barcelona and Sitges is set by the vehicle, in euros, with VAT included.
| Vehicle | Passengers | Barcelona to Sitges |
|---|---|---|
| Mercedes E-Class | up to 3 | €135 |
| Mercedes V-Class | up to 7 | €135 |
| Mercedes Sprinter | up to 16 | €345 |
| Minibus | up to 33 | €420 |
| Coach | up to 60 | €420 |
The figure is per vehicle. A group of six in a V-Class pays the same €135 as one person in an E-Class, so the larger car is often sensible when you have luggage or you are travelling in a small group. The Mercedes S-Class is booked by the hour only, so it is not in the table. If you want it for a day in Sitges, the chauffeur by the hour page explains the hourly hire, and the full list of fares is on the prices page.
The route from Barcelona to Sitges
Sitges is 39 km south-west of Plaça de Catalunya, about 40 minutes without traffic (route on Google Maps). Those are free-flow times. On a summer Friday evening or when the coast is busy, the drive takes longer, and I allow for it when I set the pick-up time.
The town has a compact centre and a long seafront, and some streets are narrow. Give me the hotel name and the full address in the form, and I plan the drop-off close to the entrance. The town’s own visitor information is on Sitges Tourism.
Barcelona airport to Sitges
Many guests land at El Prat and go straight to the coast without stopping in the city. That is a separate route with its own page: Barcelona airport to Sitges. If your plan is a transfer from the city instead, use the table above. For the airport side of the journey, see my Barcelona airport transfer page.
Barcelona to Sitges as a day trip
If you would rather visit than only transfer, the driver can stay with you. Hourly hire has a 6-hour minimum per day. For a Sitges outing, I work out the estimate from the drive each way (40 min there, 40 min back) plus 3 hours in town, rounded up to the half hour and then up to the 6-hour minimum. At that length the estimate is:
- E-Class or V-Class: €470
- S-Class: €745
- Sprinter: €610
- Minibus or coach: €685
This is a day-trip estimate based on the hours of disposal, not a transfer price. It makes sense when you want the car for lunch, the beach and the walk through the old town, and it is not meant to be compared with the €135 one-way fare. If you stay longer, extra hours are charged at the hourly rate. More ideas are on the Sitges day trip page and in the wider day trips from Barcelona section.
Which vehicle for Sitges
- Up to 3 people: the Mercedes E-Class is the right size for a couple or a business pair, and it costs the same as the V-Class on this route.
- 4 to 7 people: the Mercedes V-Class for a family or a group of friends with cases.
- 8 to 16 people: the Sprinter, common for wedding guests and small parties.
- 17 to 60 people: a minibus or a coach.
If you are between two sizes, tell me the number of passengers and large suitcases, and I recommend one.
Uber, buses, trains and taxis for Sitges
Travellers often ask whether to book a car in advance or arrange something on arrival. My answer depends on the trip.
- Train. The regional rail line is the cheap choice for one or two people with light bags, travelling at a time that suits the timetable. Services are on the Renfe website.
- Bus and local taxis. Fine if you arrive in Sitges and decide on the spot. A taxi on the rank is an on-the-day arrangement.
- A private transfer. The price is fixed before you travel and the vehicle matches the group. That is the point of booking ahead, especially after a late flight or with luggage.
I do not quote prices for ride-hailing apps, because they change by the minute. If you want to check, price the same trip there and compare it with the fixed fare above.
Luggage, timing and the Sitges address
Sitges fills up in summer and during its festivals, and the town centre is easier on foot than by car. Tell me how many large suitcases you bring, whether the hotel has a drop-off point, and the time you need to be there. If your arrival is late in the evening, say so in the form, so I plan the journey around the schedule you give me. For a wedding or a party staying in the area, I can arrange the pick-ups in sequence.
Leaving Sitges, and onward trips
The transfer works in both directions. Send both dates in one request if you are returning, and I plan the two journeys together. From Sitges I can also carry on to the airport, to Tarragona or to the wineries of the Penedès, which is a popular combination described on the Penedès and cava page. Other routes from the city are collected in the destinations hub.
